Curriculum Work

The Umi Project is available for unique curriculum projects that help build capacity for teaching in the project-based and deeper learning frameworks.

  • From developing PBL planning tools to supporting other educators in developing project ideas, The Umi Project works to change the current landscape of available educational curriculums to align with the deeper learning model.

Project Spotlight

In 2020, Green Island Films, a Honolulu based film production group will feature their new documentary series, A Climate for Change on Hawaii News Now. To accompany this documentary, and to highlight the increasing need to give youth an opportunity to learn and take climate action, The Umi Project is developing an Educator’s Toolkit to accompany the film, which will be made available to all public school teachers in Hawaii. The projects available in the Educator’s Toolkit will be co-developed by teachers, students, and local organizations, and the development process models the approach The Umi Project values in solving sustainability issues: it takes a community!
